The Initiative

OACIS’ mission is to advance the research on ocean acidification and related global stressors, as well as potential ocean-based solutions to counter them.

As one of the Foundation’s more technical initiatives, OACIS’ action focuses on advancing research on these complex topics, which are still poorly understood, and on sharing the scientific findings with decision-makers and the general public. The initiative organizes expert meetings, capacity building activities, and awareness-raising events to improve understanding of multiple stressors and examine solutions to tackle them.
