Description

The 21st Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was hosted in Paris in 2015. Its outcome was critically important as countries negotiated the greenhouse gases emissions trajectories in the next decades to century (the Paris Agreement). The Oceans 2015 Initiative was launched to provide COP21 negotiators with key information on what the future ocean will look like.

The Oceans 2015 Initiative gathered a group of international experts in order to translate the global greenhouse gas emissions trajectory into an impact scenario for oceans and coasts. The group designed key messages that were disseminated to the negotiation teams and to other key stakeholders.

The project generated a wide range of resources and products for different audiences (policy makers, scientists and the general public).
