Applications open: fourth winter school on ocean acidification and multiple stressors
News
Applications are now open for the Fourth Winter School on Ocean Acidification and Multiple Stressors, organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)'s Ocean Acidification International Coordination Centre (OA-ICC), in partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation through the OACIS Initiative (Ocean Acidification and other ocean Changes – Impacts and Solutions) and the Laboratoire d'Océanographie de Villefranche (LOV).
Taking place from 30 November to 11 December 2026 at the IAEA Marine Environment Laboratories in Monaco, this two-week training course is designed for early-career scientists with experience in ocean acidification research who are interested in understanding how acidification interacts with other co-occurring stressors such as warming, pollution, and oxygen loss.
Through a combination of lectures, hands-on laboratory exercises, and collaborative research activities, participants will explore key concepts in multiple-stressor science, experimental design, and the analysis of complex datasets. Participants will also work together on a laboratory experiment investigating the effects of multiple environmental drivers on marine organisms.
The course is open to 10–12 trainees, with priority given to early-career researchers working on marine environmental change, particularly ocean acidification. Applicants should have a background in marine chemistry, biology, oceanography, or a related field, and have at least one publication relevant to marine environmental change. Experience with R is encouraged.
All selected participants will receive financial support covering travel and accommodation costs.
Applications must be submitted through the InTouch+ platform by Friday 6 November and endorsed by the applicant's designated national authority or eligible organization.
